Welcome to the Mt Albert Historical Society.
Our mission is to protect, preserve and educate on all matters historical in and relating to Mt Albert.
Mt Albert is defined as the area that was previously known as that covered by the Mt Albert City Council.
The Society holds regular gatherings with guest speakers, local walking tours and visits to places of interest.
We would love to hear from you if you would like to join, or have any enquiries about Mt Albert’s history! Please contact us.
CURRENT PROJECT: Photographing Streets
Starting in 2022, MAHS Members have been hitting the streets of Mt Albert taking photos of the streets of our area. We aim to capture images of Mt Albert before many more of our houses are demolished or removed. These photos will be filed in the MAHS archive as a permanent record.
Would you like to be part of this project? If you would like to photograph some streets, please get in touch and we will assign you an area. If you have any old photos which show houses, buildings and street scenes, we would love to have copies for our archive (and can help with digitising if necessary).
[We have been asked why we cannot use Google Street View for this job. Their copyright conditions prevent us from saving and reusing them]
