Hesketh St

NAME:

Hesketh St was “probably named after Charles Hesketh, a former City Councillor and grain merchant in association with Alexander Atkin, after whom Atkin Terrace is named” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.). Davenport (1990, p.99) says “The firm Hesketh and Richardson practised here as barristers and solicitors in the 1870s. Edwin Hesketh had commenced in business in 1865. In 1898 there was a C. Hesketh on the city council.”

DESCRIPTION:

Hesketh St is a cul de sac that runs north west from Aitken Tce.

On the north east side lie numbers 1 to 15. On the south west side lie numbers 2 to 14.
