Argyle St was possibly named after either the place in Scotland, or the early settler ship the Duchess of Argyle (Davenport, 1990, p.20).

Part of Argyle St was amalgamated into Morningside Drive.

DESCRIPTION:

Argyle St is a short street that links Gordon Rd to Morningside Dr.

FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:

1937: “Argyle Street was described as 20 chains in length, with 7 business premises and 29 residences, and as one of the earliest named streets in that suburb” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
