NAME:
Buchanan St was named after John Buchanan, who lived in Glenmore Lodge on a block of land at the top of Dominion Rd (Davenport, 1990, p.38; Truttman, 2012).
DESCRIPTION:
Buchanan St runs north west from Aitken Tce in Kingsland. It is a no-exit street that terminates at the North Western Motorway.
Aitken Reserve is on the north east corner. Numbers run from 3 to 31 on that side of the road. On the south west side, numbers run from 2 to 30.
FACTS ABOUT THIS ROAD:
Part of the Glenmore Estate.
1937: “described as 15 chains long, with 1 business premises and 31 residences.” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
