Oakfield Ave was known as Oak Ave until 1938, when many streets in Mt Albert were renamed. A large oak tree stood on the upper corner of the street until April 2018, when it fell during a very serious storm.
Oakfield Ave is a cul de sac that runs south east from Kitenui Ave.
Numbers 1 to 9 lie on the south west side of the street. Numbers 2 to 8 lie on the north east side.
