NAME:

Ballast Lane was named after the Ballast Line – a railway line that delivered scoria from the Owairaka quarry to the Mt Albert Railway station (Auckland Libraries, n.d.)

DESCRIPTION:

Ballast Lane is a cul de sac that runs north east from New North Rd. It was a Council service lane, which was named on 27 February 2008. It runs along the back of the shops along the railway line. It provides access to the rear of the properties between 911 and 945 New North Rd.
