Begbie Pl

NAME:

Begbie Pl was named after Wilfred E. Begbie, a former Mount Albert Borough Engineer (1926-66) (Auckland Libraries, n.d.; Davenport, 1990, p.30).

DESCRIPTION:

Begbie Pl is a cul de sac that runs west from Sandringham Rd.

Numbers 1 to 9 lie on the north side of the street. Numbers 2 to 12 lie on the south side.

FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:

Begbie Pl was built on the site of a former Council rubbish tip. Homes were damaged due to the instability of the ground, and residents sued the developer and Mt Albert Borough Council (1980-81).
