NAME:
Prospero Tce was known as Prospect Tce until 1938, when many streets in Mt Albert were renamed.
Prospero is a character from Shakespeare’s play The Tempest.
Prior to 1938 there had been three Prospect Terraces in Auckland. The name Prospect probably refers to the view from the elevated position (Davenport, 1990, p.182).
DESCRIPTION:
Prospero Tce runs from Carrington Rd to Lloyd Ave.
On the south eastern side, numbers run from 1 to 9. On the north eastern side, numbers run from 2 to 12.
FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:
1937: “described as 200 yards long, with 7 residences” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
