NAME:

Ward Tce was named in 1917. It may have been named after:

  • James N. Ward, a local landowner (Auckland Libraries, n.d.)
  • Joseph Ward (1856-1930), Prime Minister of New Zealand (1906-12; 1928-30) (Davenport, 1990, p.245).

DESCRIPTION:

Ward Tce is a cul de sac that runs east from Sandringham Rd.

Numbers 1 to 21 lie on the south side of the road. Numbers 2 to 22 lie on the north side.

FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:

1937: “described as 550 feet long, with 22 residences and named 20 years before” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
