This road was created in 1923 as part of the Rugby Estate. There is a village named Altham in Lancashire, England, which may be the origin of the name. No specific reason has been found yet for the choice of this name.

The source of the name is not given in Auckland Libraries or Davenport.

DESCRIPTION:

Altham Ave runs west from Sandringham Rd to McDonald St.

Rossmay Tce intersects it.

On the north side lie numbers 1 to 31. On the south side lie numbers 2 to 42.
