Kitchener Rd was “probably named after Earl Kitchener, a British Army leader” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.; Davenport, 1990, p.120).
DESCRIPTION:
Kitchener Rd runs north west from Sandringham Rd to Fowlds Ave.
Carrie St and Duncan Ave run off Kitchener Rd.
On the north side of the street, numbers run from 1 to 41. On the east side, numbers run from 2 to 56.
FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:
1937: “described as 20 chains long, with 6 business premises and 26 residences, and one of the first streets in the area.” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
