Renfrew Ave

NAME:

Renfrew Ave is named after a County in Scotland, associated with the Earl of Ranfurly (Davenport, 1990, p.191).

DESCRIPTION:

Both sides of Renfrew Ave is in Sandringham. The boundary of the borough/city runs along the back of the sections on the eastern side of the street. At the Mt Albert Road end, the boundary lies to the east of Jyoti’s Dairy.

Renfrew Ave runs north from Mt Albert Rd. Parry St enters it from the west. On the east it is entered by Louvain Ave and Haig Ave. At its north end it turns east and becomes Invermay Ave.

On the west side of the road lie numbers 2 to 82. On the east side, numbers are 1 to 75.

FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:

1937: “described as 800 yards long, with 26 residences and named 10 years before (1927)” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).
