Shorwell St was known as Short St until 1938 when many Mt Albert roads were renamed.
Shorwell St is named after a place on the Isle of Wight (Davenport, 1990, p.208).
Kingsway Ave bisects it.
On the north side run numbers 1 to 41. On the south side run numbers 2 to 48.
