The origin of the name Thomas Ave is not yet known.
DESCRIPTION:
Thomas Ave runs from Lloyd Ave to Seaview Tce in Mt Albert.
Numbers 1 to 15 lie on the south east side of the road. Numbers 2 to 12 lie on the north west side of the road.
FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:
1926 – Thomas Ave was first used as a street name in 1926 – a list of the 3 households in this street was given in Wises Post Office Directory for the first time in 1927 (details would have been collected the previous year). Prior to this, it seems to have been considered an extension of Counsel Terrace, possibly just a track. In November 1926, sections in Dr A.O. Knight’s subdivision between the bottom of Thomas Ave and Guardwell Terrace were offered for sale. This created the short section of Seaview Terrace. Directions to the subdivision were given in the auction notice:
