FACTS ABOUT THIS STREET:

Sea View Terrace was formally dedicated as a public road on 11 October 1882 (17A 400). This was part of the subdivision of Lot 34 Parish of Titirangi, undertaken by its owner, Judge John Rogan. The farm and subdivision were called Roganville.

The lithographed plan of Roganville Estate that was produced for the sale of the subdivision, in 1882, spelled the name of the street Seaview Terrace.

1937: “described as 1/4 mile long, with 1 business premises and 46 residences” (Auckland Libraries, n.d.).

In 1938 consideration was given to renaming this Clay Street after local politician Thomas Clay. It was decided that the name could be misinterpreted, and the original name was kept.
